Romance Writers of America's Mission is to advance the professional interests of career-focused romance writers through networking and advocacy. The association represents more than 10,000 members in 145 chapters offering local or special-interest networking and education.
Hudson Valley RWA, located in the lower Hudson Valley in New York State, is a sub-chapter of Romance Writers of America, which began in 1984 with a small group of dedicated writers meeting in a local library. In 1986 two of our founders, Jane Toombs and Ruby Frankel decided it was time to incorporate and the official chapter was born.
We are a unique group of writers, both published and unpublished, who strive for excellence in our pursuits. Among our members are Rita winners or finalists, Golden Heart finalists, EPPIE winners and New York Times best-selling authors. Our diverse group of writers is dedicated to supporting members' creative and publishing goals and to the promotion of the romance genre. The chapter meets the second Saturday of every month in the community rooms at the Palisades Mall on the fourth floor near the skating rink.
